I was reading through my email and one from the US Snowboarding site caught my eye. After reading through the article all I have to say is, WTF?? Really America, that's what we've come to??


This article is about how some college kids created a program called Crystal Ball to predict what snowboarder will make it to the Olympics and what events they should compete it to get there. Really?? The article also stated that the US Snowboarding Coaches wanted this program to help balance athletes schedules. So snowboarders are going to be told what comps to be at and which ones to skip? Seriously?


What happened to competing for fun? What happened to competing because you liked it and not because you were forced to make some team? This has to be the stupidest thing I have heard and has really set the sport back in my opinion.


Not everyone is Shaun White or Kelly Clark or even Gretchen Blieler but who cares?? What about the Elena Hight's and Ellery Hollingsworth's and Scotty Lago's that can very well beat out their competitors? Does them being less consistent make them less deserving of a chance to compete in the Olympics??


I get it, the Olympics are a big deal and each country wants to be the best. But at the end of the day, all it really is is a competition. Who gives a crap about who wins or loses??
